Due to the convenience of ready meals,we are in danger of bringing up a generation of children that can't or don't want to cook. Cooking at school is no longer compulsory and it is left to parents to encourage our children to want to learn. Children's Book of Baking is suitable for children of all ages and promotes cooking to be a fun, yet educational, pastime. It provides a useful insight into kitchen equipment, hygiene and safety, cake tins, cake-making techniques and baking tips.
It also includes a listing of cook's terms. There is an overwhelming selection of mouthwatering recipes split into six sections. Each recipe provides a list of ingredients, clear instructions, equipment needed, serving quantity, useful tips and colour photographs.

Required ingredients should be staples in any kitchen. How many American kitchens have superfine sugar and self-rising flour? Twin eight year-old granddaughters tried the chocolate cookie. This was NOT a fool-proof recipe for young bakers. Even I had trouble getting the crumbly dry dough to stick together and the cookies were very crumbly after being baked. Ingredients were properly measured and instructions followed. We will try one more recipe. If it also is a don't-make-again recipe, the book goes into the recycle bin!

Children Book of Baking Over 60 Delicious Recipes for Children to Make eBook Sara Lewis Reviews
I got this book from the library, and I'm glad I didn't waste money on it. We tried a cookie recipe (the "chocolate kisses"), and as written what it produced was nothing that could be described as cookie dough. I added an egg (many of the cookie recipes have no egg in them, for some reason), which was sorely needed and turned it into something actually bakeable. I also used twice as much sugar as called for and the cookies were still barely sweet enough to be edible. Then I tried the frosting recipe that went with the cookies, and the butter/powdered sugar ratio was clearly way off.
Maybe this was just one bad recipe (well, two), but it definitely made me wonder if they spent more time taking pretty pictures of children "helping" with the recipes than actually testing the recipes.
Bought this cookbook for my neices daughter and she loved it. Not sure how any of the recipes came out but she was very happy to receive it.
Arrived fast. It was a great gift for my niece and nephew.
Bought this for our 10 year old twin girls for Christmas. They loved it. Make cookies from it right away.
"Kids Baking" was a birthday gift for my 8 year old granddaughter who loves to bake. She loves the book! Her family eats gluten free so she just substitutes gluten free flour and says they come out great.
Overall, I wasn't thrilled with the recipes in this book. Maybe it's personal taste, but there's too many fruitcake type recipes, or really nutty and kind of obscure recipes. I at least expected some oatmeal raisin cookies, or things a little more "on the beaten path."
