Disturbing the Devil is an excellent addition to the Underwood and Flinch series by Mike Bennett. For those who haven’t heard his voice, he is an amazing storyteller—audio is definitely the way to experience his creative prose. The ‘Underwood and Flinch’ (vampire lord with his human companion/confidant/protector/servant) concept began as a single short story in his Hall of Mirrors podcast. He went on to develop these characters in their own novels, but Disturbing the Devil is a prequel, and an excellent place to begin, even though it's Mr. Bennett’s most recent U&F release. I'm looking forward to the next time "The moon rises over Underwood and Flinch."Product details

Disturbing the Devil An Underwood and Flinch StandAlone Short Story The Underwood and Flinch Chronicles edition by Mike Bennett Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Slick British historical thriller that feels as if it turns the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle on it's head and trades out Holmes & Watson for a vampire and his helper as they seek to uncover the whereabouts of a cult-like group that are wanting to hunt them down. Had a good time with this book and would gladly read more of the series!
In this installment of Underwood and Flinch, we get to meet a new Flinch and explore London as the underground railway opens for business. An exciting adventure story as the vampire, Lord Underwood and his companion/valet Ben Flinch are pursued by unknown assailants through the new tunnels beneath London. Will the Lord prevail? Or has he finally met his match? Read on to find out!
This story is a part of a series and is not the first. However, you can start here and then read the others if you like. The whole series is well worth it.
It's a short story giving some background to the rest of the series, which you don't need to read to follow the storyline, but enjoyable none the less. I absolutely love Mike Bennett's fiction, and I wish he would have the time to write more, especially of the Underwood and Flinch series, because I need to know, man, I need to know! What actually happened to Underwood? Where is David now? Is Underwood still alive, er, dead, er, alive? I can't wait!
My main complaint on this piece is the brevity, as stated in the title. Further, I wish to point out that this book chiefly features four characters, only one of which remains interesting. As I thoroughly enjoyed the other books in the series, I found that this one left much to be desired
As a fan of Underwood and Flinch now for over five years, I used to listen to Mike's blood soaked tales as a podiobook series. Over the years these characters have grown and, devolved if I can make a pun. But the overall chilling aspect of the Immortal Evil of Vampire afterlife is always captured, and in an unforgettable style from a masterful story teller in Mike Bennett.
The Underwood and Flinch series (sequence?) is amazing. Literally everyone should read, or better yet, listen to it. The first two (three?) parts are available in ebook and podcast form. You should probably listen to the podcast and then when you inevitably get sucked into the work and can’t escape you should buy all the ebooks so you can enjoy it in written form as well. Mike Bennett reads the audio and that makes it at least three times more worth the listen. Give it a go, the first ones are available for free so if you aren’t willing to buy this one yet, you will be by the time you get through the original and blood and smoke.
This is not your glittery pretty boy teen vampire! This is the real deal. If you’re a teenage girl who just wants glittery pretty vampires away with you! If you’re a real man or a real woman and enjoy real blood and guts and horror this is for you! Come and enjoy and leave a little of the life force you bring with you!
